Two ALB Bucket trucks work on power lines with trees and a blue sky in the background

Alaska Line Builders (ALB) was formed in 2005 by Steve Foster and Charles “CF” Baird III as an outside electrical and telecommunications contractor.    ALB has been involved in all phases of linework including but not limited to wood and steel high lines, distribution work including hot reconductor and rebuilds, all phases of underground linework, and many different types of substations.  They have bid and overseen large and small power projects throughout the state and been on the frontlines of large storms that challenge our power infrastructure.

Steve and CF wanted more than a power line business, they wanted to create an environment committed to:

  • Safety throughout all aspects of the business
  • Quality, dependable work products throughout the state
  • Cultivation of the next generation of linemen
  • Workplace that felt more like a family than a job

ALB has worked to mentor apprentices and young linemen to ensure the next generation is prepared to face the challenges they will encounter in the field in a safe and professional manner.

CF retired in 2019 leaving ALB in the capable hands of Steve and their management team.  Alaska Line Builders continues to advance its connection to Alaska and the communities within Alaska through expanding their workforce and equipment to meet the needs of the power infrastructure throughout the state.
